The Indonesian island of Bali is a favorite destination for both adventurers and those in need of little relaxation. The waters of Bali’s white beaches are an ideal spot for diving while the jungles with temples call out for adventure. In this post I’ll focus on some hidden and maybe not that known beaches that will blow your mind.
1. Nyang Nyang beach
This was definitely a highlight of mine second visit to the island of Gods. Gods for sure put some work in this beauty, there is no other reasonable explanation. We drove all the way close to the Uluwatu Temple and then followed small sign and turned left on the dusty road. After about 5 min ride we got to the parking lot and our adventure started. With a first sight I knew that this won’t be just a regular beach. Miles of untouched nature and crystal clear sand caught my hart and eyes forever. Spending a Christmas Day on a place like this made it even more special. Even a steep 20 min walk back to the parking didn’t ruin my impression. Definitely will be visiting this place again when I return to Bali.
2. Blue lagoon beach in Padang Bai
If you decide to visit Gili islands during your stay in Bali you will probably need to go to Padang Bai. While there’s not so much things to do you will have a lot of time to explore some hidden beaches. One of best is Blue Lagoon, small but extremely beautiful abandoned beach. At the same time it is scary to see this used-to-be beach bar all ruined with the time but in my case it just gave some special touch to the whole experience. Definitely worth of visiting like a small preparation for a sandy paradise you will find on Gili islands.
3. Karma beach
This is one of the few places where you will have to pay to experience Bali’s untouched beauty. It’s a part of the same resort that used to be very fancy 10 years ago but today is just a sad example of a touristic fraud. From above look is spectacular and it’s so hard not to fall for it. I was so excited for a visit and decided to pay 500 000 IRD around 30€ for a entrance that include 300 000 IRD of non refundable bonus that you can spend on a food in a restaurant on the beach. But after all it left the bad taste. I was expecting much more then I was found down there. Not saying you shouldn’t visit it but there are so many beautiful places you will be able to get in for free. But if you have some extra money you will enjoy the lift ride to the bottom of Karma Beach restaurant.
Private pools are cool but nature ones beats everything. Ever wanted to soak in your private tub with an amazing view of the ocean? Tegal Wangi Beach gives you exactly that. These little holes on the shore filled with seawater fresh from the ocean will bring a pool life to a whole another level. Be prepared for a natural massage organized by waves power. Truly a unique experience that will bring a smile on your face every time you see shots you took.
5. Balangan beach
Last but not the least on this list is Balangan beach, one of Bali’s most popular and most scenic beaches, featuring a gorgeous half – kilometre stretch of golden sand. This surfing paradise attracts wave riders from around the world. Getting there is effortless thanks to clearly marked signposts and directions. At it’s end is the main entrance, and parking fees range between IDR 2,000 and 5,000 for motorcycles and cars. The beach is only a few steps down from the cliff, but it’s a good idea to head up the hills before and take a peek from the top for great panoramic angles. Those into photography will love to linger on for the dramatic sunsets from above.
Now you finally know all of mine “hidden” sandy gems of Bali. So what are you waiting for, pack your bags and see you in one of these beauties.
