New Zealand is a traveller’s dream. Packed with spectacular landscapes and virtually untouched national parks -the scenery alone is enough to inspire most visitors. This is a home of bungy and where you can find every other type of adrenaline rush you can think of – and some you’ve probably never even dreamt of.
As I’m facing my first summer in Dubai (read “hell” ) somehow my mind flew back to a New Zealand adventures I’ve experienced this year.
And one of the best was air safari around the tallest mountain, Mount Cook (3724 m). I know I’ve promised to write a lots of posts about my trip to this magical country but it will come, step by step when inspiration kicks me, like today when I’m trying to cool down by watching this beautiful snowy landscapes of New Zealand’s tallest mountain when the heat takes over the Dubai slowly.
This was one of the highest ranked attractions I wanted to visit during my stay and I almost miss it. Well, everyone who ever visited New Zealand or lived know that weather there can be tricky, and sometimes been described as “four seasons in one day “. During my visit, even tho it was a middle of the summer, weather was really bad ! First try failed due the weather conditions and second one, on the last day of my stay was one of the most spectacular moments I ever seen in my life !
Two places are famous as a starting points for the air safari, village of Franz Josef and Lake Tekapo Village. Tekapo was my happy place. After two days of horrible weather, we didn’t know anything about the flight till the early morning next day. Somehow sky got clear, and we were ready to hit this scenic ride.
The ride will take you trough The Aoraki/ Mount Cook National Park including New Zealand’s highest mountain and longest glacier, the Tasman Glacier as well you will be able to see magnificent Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers spilling down to the rainforests of the west coast. Every passenger has a guaranteed window seat and all aircraft have wings above to ensure optimum viewing below.
The company I choose for this adventure was “AIR SAFARIS” and the price was 370 NZD, around 240€. Someone will say it’s pricey but I think it’s worthy, experience that you will keep forever in heart.
After this head to lake Pukaki, around 50 km to the south and find your place near the lake, take a book and get lost in one of the most stunning places in the world. I think it’s time for some magic and pictures that I’ve been hiding from you for so long !
I hope you liked this post, for sure it’s not the last one from the New Zealand ! If anyone of you did this safari or something similar in different country feel free to comment ! Would love to hear all about it!
Love
